Momaka an additional follow up to your earlier post re rutile. You might be interested in the speculative potential this article/video puts in the ring:

As you read/watch it, listen out for the reference to titanium and lithium titanate batteries. Lithium titanate batteries, whilst lower energy density than other lithium ion batteries, are the fastest charging. They are the type of battery that is potentially what would be useful in running buses in a public transport system etc that need a quick charge but also other vehicles. A number of manufacturers are working with them in developing electric vehicle technologies eg Mitsubishi and Toshiba
Anyway here's the interesting and ridiculously speculative angle for us:
- part 1. the main sources of titanium (titanate) are heavy mineral sands namely rutile and ilmenite. As such it's not rare with hms being common. However, although reasonably common the laws of economic extraction apply and we may soon prove to have good commercial quantities of rutile
- part 2. The company may soon be looking for lithium. Allowing the silly speculation they find some in an attractive form (spondeum in rocks, unless Tanzania happens to have any of the right sort of salars to extract from brine) my wild imagination sees little old STA in the position to be touting to the world's lithium titanate battery manufacturers and users that this Aussie company could provide the feed material for both key elements in these batteries.
How's that for a fun bit of speculation? (and, yes wild as much as fun)
