Yep that's how it is done,
When they are looking for gold they literally pan stream samples,
To see if there is gold there....
Then they announce the results
(obviously)
It is just common sense.
They often also get prospectors out to see if they can find anything as well.
No point them drilling if there's nothing there right?
Seriously go and look at any companies,
Initial assay results and you will see the same thing.
It is like no one has invested in an exploration company before,
How does anyone not know this?....
