Good on you for getting your head around this stuff in your early 20s.
Yeah when you think about Market Capitalisation, it's what the company is worth. If a company has one million shares on issue, and the share price is $1, then it makes sense that your company's market cap value is just $1 x one million shares = $1m
Using SUM's 56 million shares on issue referenced above, you can work out the market cap at various prices.
This can be useful when comparing to similar companies - market cap is the data point to compare, then you can work backwards using the above calculation to find what the share price would be at that valuation.
