Let me know where it was you went underground at 3km on the Bushveld? Would be fascinated to hear of it.

The Wits on the other hand (Witwatersrand Au mines) are down to 3-5km depths, but the geothermal gradient at the Wits is much less than in a large basic-ultrabasic intrusive.

PS - Fishfinger: being open minded and trying to decide between points made by rampers and downies is a skill, and as ever I'm still learing. Always useful to listen to different views on the same matter, research and evaluate differences of opinion - if only that had happened through the CV19 madness perhaps we'd've been in a better place.
