Read all the anns and you will find that the 'secret channel' disappears.
Rox geos worked out what gold was able to be mined in open pits within the geological constraints of Youanmi.
That was 160m vertical depth with 20 additional metres possible if gold was indicated just below that depth.
This graphic shows the Near Surface Resource.
The Deeps is everything below 160 - 180m so you right. 300m is not near surface.
