I guess there is no weaning you guys off this "pump/dump/short" ideology.... for the record though...
(a) Pumps and dumps are not legal (Does not mean it they don't happen) - but they are most certainly not legal.
(b) Pumping and "shorting" isn't the way to do it. Outright selling would be the way to approach the "dump" part (i.e. flood the market with supply - hence price drops... the pump part would be the part where demand is created by buying everything is sight)
(c) The usual formula for 'pump and dumps' would be for price to return to baseline or near baseline levels... but since about August last year, LRV climbed a 700% to ATH (it's still about 500% higher than last August). If you are looking at a monthly chart - that's a hard argument to make for a 'pump and dump' scheme when price went up month on month.
(d) Shorting is "borrowing" stock, selling said stock at a higher price and buying at a lower price and "repaying" the amount of stock originally "borrowed". It can contribute to SP going down on a downward run, but short selling on its own cannot sustain downward pressure for extended periods nor trigger a change in direction against the trend. Many factors are needed for that sustained downward stock price sentiment. Shorting against sentiment/trend is a stupendously bad idea!
IF an institutional trader was going to short, they would do it with the view of making money on the downward run (i.e. they are betting on the markets going to go down). On that point, on the days leading up to Dec 2 (CR) or few days after, there was not a massive increase in short positions (definitely, nowhere near now)... so yeah, there's that...
LRV is a speculative stock with apparently good fundamentals. It creates interest, and thus volatility.
Finally, if you think pullbacks/corrections in price movement will stop once permits are/finance are done, that would also be a mistake. That said, as SP grows, the volatility is likely to decrease over time (relative to now)...
