fresh water is hard to find around Hombre Muerto and will generally turn the locals against mining if the fresh water is used for new mining projects/purposes.
It would also be an extremely expensive task to run a pipeline from the nearest abundant location for the quantity needed for the lithium extraction plant...which ever method they decide.
With the brines being diluted enough by the fumerole, it’s just a simple reverse osmosis process to achieve fresh water, which is available onsite. Also, due to the Horst and graben geology in the middle, it is a very deep basement with large water column.
Imo without the hydrothermal, Gln would have a lot of Lithium and great difficulties in retrieving it.
