So naturally, the combined weight can be more than 100%, because oxygen loves to bulk up those numbers. Then there's the fact that multiple phases or compounds in the sample can involve more than one element, meaning some elements might get counted twice. And of course, some data might not have been normalised yet, so the percentages could appear inflated.
