Ok mate, In elemental analysis, it’s common for totals to exceed 100%, especially when complex minerals are involved. When converting oxides to elements, some overlap occurs due to different minerals contributing to multiple phases or forms of the elements. This can inflate the numbers, particularly for elements like Nb, Nd, or Ta that appear in different mineral forms or compounds. Additionally, the elemental totals might not be normalised, meaning the raw data still includes some excess—like the leftover bits after converting oxides. So, while it seems odd at first glance, the rock isn’t breaking the laws of physics. The data just hasn’t been adjusted down to a 100% reference, which is pretty standard practice in raw geological reports.
