From 20,000 L brine, at 200mg/L Lithium, you have 4kg of pure metal.
ion exchanged concentrates brine into 30,000 mg/L solution, i.e. 150:1 concentration.
after carbonation, you end up with the salt Lithium Carbonate. If you use stoichometry and maths, you can make 84kg of LiCO3 from the 20,000 L, assuming no losses.
of course the Hazen lab uses a batch proces, they can't process all 20,000 L in a batch, plus they have tried different combinations.
The 6 kg they need from Novonix will need approx 1500 L of brine, which the Ion Exchange/RO process will reduce to 10 L.
the Hazen lab lady that leaves hair clips in the photos should be able to deal with 10 L of concentrate easily, even at lab scale and batch process.
