KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12, 2021 - (ACN Newswire) - Malaysianswill soon be able to order healthier breads and foodproducts from Starbucks Malaysia, Kenny Rogers and 7-Elevenstores under a collaboration between Berjaya Corporation Bhd("Berjaya") and homegrown natural foods specialist HolistaColltech Ltd. ("Holista").

Australian SecuritiesExchange-listed Holista, headquartered in Petaling Jaya,announced today that it has entered into an agreement withCountry Farms Sdn Bhd ("Country Farms"), a Berjayasubsidiary that produces and supplies organic and healthyfood for the Bursa-listed Berjaya Group.

Berjayaoperates the Malaysian franchises of Starbucks (320 outlets)and Kenny Rogers Roasters (73 outlets) as well as the7-Eleven chain of convenience stores (2,400 outlets). Italso owns the Cosway international network marketing armwhich has 396 outlets in Malaysia and 559 outletsglobally.

Under the agreement, Country Farms will holdexclusive rights for Holista's low-glycaemic index("low-GI") pre-mix for flour products, sugar reductiontechnology, plant-based meat products and dietarysupplements for markets where Berjaya or its associatesoperate in.

Country Farms already owns the rights inMalaysia for the plant-based range of Beyond Meat. It willserve as the distribution for Holista's products to theBerjaya Group which also operates a range of vegan shops inMalaysia.

Holista has commenced work to develop arange of low-GI white sandwich rolls, croissants, andciabatta for Starbucks outlets in Malaysia. The country hasone of the highest incidents of diabetes and obesity in theworld, which experts believe is largely caused bydiet.

Holista has developed a scientifically verifiedwhite bread roll with a GI reading of 46 (compared to 70 formost white breads). High-GI foods are digested and absorbedquickly, resulting in spikes in blood sugar levels. Bycontrast, low-GI foods help reduce and slow the rise inblood sugar.
