Electric vehicles will be the future and they are already taking off. Maybe not so much in Australia yet! but overseas yes.
Have a look at this video on Volkswagen and that is just one company. I don't think they would be spending those amounts of money investing in it, if they didn't think it is the future.
Now that is VW, but remember there are other major vehicle companies spending BILLIONS on them. I think there's a company called TESLA too that is investing a few dollars into it too.
