Not correct. Any drug/technolgy that has the ability to reduce the transmission rate of HSV2 at a community level has a place.
Currently, only 20% of everyone with HSV2 is aware they have it. Those people will be rushing out the door to get it, as it reduces the risk they infect their partner by 58% at a minimum!
The challenge for family doctors is better screening, to convert the 80% of HSV2 carriers who are blissfully unaware, and vaccinate them too!
100% cure will probably come eventually, from a combination of transmission reduction, education, and screening.
