I like your optimism mate, but I'll wait for Thursdays webinar before a drink to that.
Scientists of Ians caliber and experience don't see it that way. I'm sure he wants the vax to work, of course he does. But if it doesn't I'm pretty sure he won't be slitting his wrists over it. He's a professional, and if it doesn't work he'll come out and say "Well, that didn't work." - the end.
