Hey Kyriaco,
Lazy Friday arvo, just reviewing some things. As enunciated by PG and the General in the recent investor presentations, Defence and Government are clearly going to be a big deal for Harvest, involving either an acquisition or a special-purpose company established under the Harvest umbrella to quarantine and focus on the Defense sector business initiatives.
Harvest's strategy is clear: Establish Harvest as a trusted supplier to the Australian Defence Force, from there springboard to becoming a trusted partner to 5 Eyes and 5 Eyes Primes.
In light of that, this speech Rajeev Suri, CEO of Inmarsat, made at Space Comm earlier this year is of more than passing interest. It's worthwhile reading the whole thing. The market clearly does not yet recognise the significance of the Harvest-Inmarsat partnership.
I thought this excerpt worthy of mention here:
Work with allies to complement each other’s strengths.
At Inmarsat, we are working in partnership with a host of UK-based and international partners. We are focusing on what we do best and working with a large array of partners to deploy their particular expertise. And, it is a model that works.
For the UK, sovereign capabilities are important, but we do not have to create everything ourselves. We need to choose carefully and identify where we can make a real difference – both to the UK and as a partner for our international allies. And, at Inmarsat, we know that UK services – when they are best in class – are in high demand.
The UK-Australia Space Bridge is one example, where we recently concluded a 300m plus Australian Dollar deal with the Australian Defence Force to deliver their sovereign satcom capabilities. We also have a deep relationship with the U.S. Government – Inmarsat’s largest customer – and we are expanding our operations in Canada
So:
1. Inmarsat recently concluded a $300 million deal to deliver sovereign satcom capabilities to the ADF
2. Inmarsat have a deep relationship with the US Govt - Inmarsat's largest customer.
3. Inmarsat are expanding operations in Canada
4. Inmarsat are a UK company.
That's the four big members of 5Eyes right there.
No wonder the General is so confident in the successful outcome of Harvest's Australian Defence/5Eyes strategy.
