    "Is this satellite based or did we just make the big step into mainstream communications?" - The HTG tech doesn't matter what the network is but it is optimised for satellite coms.

    Ignore the network and just think bandwidth reduction regardless of how the connection is made. There was some info here.

    So to answer the question "did we just make the big step into mainstream communications"? The answer is the tech was already there; I just don't think everyone has put the pieces together yet!
