agree career is very risky Joe... l become physically very unwell really at quite a young age for a professional.
people don't realise just how risky things are or health can be (heart attack, strokes, cancer etc). things can change overnight at a certain age. lucky we live in Australia. ld l was in the US l would be in trouble.
sounds like you are well prepared and 40% l would think lowers exposure. is consistent with balanced / capital stable funds.
l was speaking to a retired bloke much older than me and he was saying he used bank hybrids as income not cash. l dont use hybrids but it got me thinking.
l do use Bond ETF through and keep 18 months income aside.
Also l am using UMAX to provide base quarterly income. it seems that the more volatile work markets the higher the income and a % has always been tax free (not reason for investing).
l like BKW SOL for the stable income l really learned to like it during the pandemic when they stopped bank dividends.
yes also agree that stock picking is almost impossible.
