Debt could certainly be lower but in the fast food GIC it's normal. Check out the debt to equity of DMP, RFG and many Nasdaq ones like MCD Macdonalds, SBUX Starbucks, YUM etc... This industry is highly leveraged to be competitive. Initial setup like, building rent/cost, kitchen fit out, equipment etc are the main reasons.
