They only invest in what they know and what proves to work for them.
I agree Tech and AI and computing is the future, however, to pick the future winner is extremely difficult and I don't think Soul Patts has any advantages in this as compared to other fund managers.
Sometimes the most boring business can still deliver an outstanding return if you know when to buy it and add value, Soul Patts certainly is able to do so.
I actually feel comfortable that they are not venturing into industries that they have little knowledge of and I'm glad they are sticking to their investing principles. They are careful with their capital and also our capital and I can see every investment they've made are calculated....
We can never expect them to deliver the sort of return like Berkshire or Apple or Nvdia...I will be happy if they can just beat the index by a couple of % over the long term, even this is not easy and if they can achieve this, it will certainly be extraordinary.
