I used to be very conservative about holdings but have changed my views - I first realised that SVW and SOL/BKW are a new breed of hybrid. If Berkshire H are a great investment why not these but because of the spread I use a much higher percentage for them as well.
I am a bit of a maverick in that I do look at relative values for SOL vs BKW and have switched at times - especially in my SMSF which is in retirement phase. If you are comfortable around say 4 to 5% in one company I look at BKW as 3 so 10% to 15% okay. SOL I only allow another 7.5% at present.
When you hit retirement the largest risk is cash flow so dividend consistency is much better than volatility - we all live off cash flow...
