    - No hole is perfectly vertical
    - any time a station tool like the MDT is on station the cable will be sacked off and coiled helically above tool and against the borehole wall.
    - Likewise any time the tool hangs up n a ledge or borehole restriction the tension will drop on the cable and it will rub against the borehole wall
