Thanks for the replies. But wouldn't have been worth the risk to try and case / run liner in M1 just to get the discovery rather than spending another $20m+ on another well? Just wondering if it was a safety risk, financial risk, or both?

I'm sure they would have been weighed up the pro's and con's at the time. I understand that that IVZ is an explorer, so would have had to continue drilling wells anyway, it's just easier to do so and raise after a discovery.

Given that we're following a similar course of events in M2, if the sidetrack fails, and hole conditions deteriorate, what do you think the likelyhood of getting a flowtest out of M2 would be?
