I recall reading that as M-1 was an exploration well, there was no intention to flow test and therefore the grade of casing was not of the required standard for flow testing. I believe the intention was to place cement plugs in the 8.5" hole (P&A) after logging MDT, VSP and swc rather than run a liner. However, M-2, the first appraisal well, was designed for flow testing.
