I'm pretty sure all of the tool failures so far have been directly related to the tools being bashed around on the end of a drill string while running in TLC mode.
Expecting an MDT tool to keep working after repeatedly slamming it into ledge is like expecting your car to work after driving it into a brick wall at 100km/hr with a B double pushing it from the rear.
