In my layman's terms this is what I understand ...
- Pebbly Arkose is at 'low' pressure, and is highly permeable
- Upper Angwa is at 'medium' pressure
- Lower Angwa is at high pressure, which they had no idea about prior to this hole.

As the drill hits LA they have to increase mud pressure to prevent a serious gas kick. But as they increase the mud pressure its starts invading the Pebbly Arkos reservoir, which is still an open, uncased section. They then experience mud losses and hole deterioration in the PA the whole time that the mud is at increased pressure

Sidetrack will have casing all the way through the Pebbly A, stopping at the top of the UA.
They can ratchet up the mud weight to suit UA and LA pressures without having to allow for all of PA, UA and LA. With the PA sction lockd down, there is less chance of mud lossess and associated hole deterioration with just Upper and Lower Angwa in uncased open hole.

This is the differenc b/w unknown multi target wildcat drilling and this 4th attempt at gaining a sample - we are going all in on Upper and Lower Angwa, which are supposedly high pressured and bursting to share their spoils

Does anyone know how they are going to case the pebbly arkrose as this would mean slimline logging tools would be needed for the open upper angwa ?
