The coal ledges were causing issues while they had the MDT on TLC......the tool is much more rigid on the end of drill pipe than on wireline. On the end of wireline the tool can tilt and turn in the hole....you have a better chance of working your way past a ledge.
Drilling the sidetrack with a lower mud weight will help alleviate the cable sticking that triggered the shift to TLC operations in the main bore.
