It was interesting what was said about the graphite at the general meeting. Our partners, Mitsui, have found that the graphite with iron in it may be very beneficial to steel making. This makes sense given steel requires carbon, iron and hydrogen to make it. They also said 3 hzr plants would saturate the battery market, so probably not the preferred route.
In a separate presentation I attended (not about hzr), the consultations emphasised that it is difficult to make green steel from pilbara DSO, where it was easier with magnetite due to its higher iron properties once crushed. I wonder if the hzr graphite is the bridge required to make hematite into green steel.
Just speculation from two different groups. May well be way off.
