I'm a programmer myself, not an artist, but the way the characters animate etc it appears (to me anyway) they've set this up to be quite efficient to expand. The static assets like backgrounds could be done reasonably quickly for an experienced artist (especially once they build up a rhythm). The characters would be the hardest part but I still think it's the kind of thing you could get quite efficient at doing. I'm not saying it's like "easy" to do this quickly (like I'm amazed they did 25 already), more that it's very possible with the right pipeline. The way the game dynamically loads in worlds etc... it feels as if it's made to be constantly expanded.

I hope they're able to balance out some of the gameplay before they add more planets though - I'm not sure how, but I think the way stealing coins etc work could be improved. Or you should be able to play a mini-game to reclaim coins / animals etc etc.
