You've actually highlighted a potential flaw in monetisation if its targeted at kids as they don't have access to wallets and crypto. I think that this same issue is impacting many blockchain games.
Surprised nobody has picked up on the timeline. The grant will be paid monthly over a 2 year period to align with development of the game. Factor in the inevitable delays, the game might not be launched until second half of 2025 or 2026. This is the key reason, imo, why ICI stock price has not started rising higher (in a manner similar to crypto).
Yes, ICI are developing a portfolio of games (which gaming company isn't?), but none of the more significant potential money-making projects appear to be launching in the near-term.
A 3 year timescale seems reasonable for this story to play out and for the main games to be launched. It'll give Crazy plenty more opportunities to tell everybody to stay patient, ignore the price and that he's never been wrong!
If ICI were able to communicate a robust pipeline of staged deliverables over the next three years (and actually deliver against them!), then I think that the market would sit up and start to take notice.
Clarify the strategy, communicate milestones and deliver, will build positive momentum regardless of the macro environment. Unfortunately, ICI have failed to do these simple things, so there's no point hoping that things will miraculously improve.
I'm still waiting on them to finalise the Misfits NFT artwork, which should've been their first quick win about a year ago. Will this "guaranteed $4m" project ever see the light of day? If the income was banked in Q2 of 2022, it could've paid for the development of an additional metaverse game. This is why momentum is so important - it builds confidence, forges a positive reputation, helps to build better partnerships, attract better staff, get on the radar of more investors etc etc. Success begets success.
Successful companies do not hold projects back indefinitely because crypto is down. Misfits NFTs might have made ICI a few more million in royalties over the past year. The opportunity cost is huge. If Kin could time the market, he'd be better off investing $10m+ into crypto and not even bothering with the hassle of developing games.
