we all know what patient preference I will be however do take what you say on board when it comes to cost and especially when we look at global reach and affordability. Nowhere near being able to make any type of cost prediction on pill vs machine but the development of such a pill will no doubt take end user affordability into consideration. No point in developing a great drug that is not affordable by most. Repeat prescriptions for pills add to cost so end user will no doubt make that decision when the time comes. Developed economies vs developing economies might also view the purchasing of a machine as being more financially available in the long run, if machines are easy to purchase.
