Hi Saintex, Apologies for late reply. Had two important essays due (final year in Uni.). Imdex is my only investment in the upstream mining service sector as I could not find another excellent company ( but i am open to suggestions). I actually first bought shares in 2016 at a bargain of 26 sen when it was recovering from a black swan, an asbestos issue in its drilling fluids ( in fact from a chinese supplier). The early 2020 fall provided another wonderful opportunity to buy Imdex shares.
Right now the company is in a great position as it has exited the oil sector to solely focus on the mining one where depletion of reserves has been faster than discoveries, requiring more exploration therefore more business opportunities to Imdex. The purchase of Ausspec last year, a leader in spectral mineralogy was a masterstroke as it complemented the offering of the company.
“Every mine in the world makes decisions on the four components of rock knowledge – location, texture, grade and mineralogy. Our technology stack currently addresses three of these components and aiSIRIS (from Ausspec) satisfies the fourth – mineralogy.".
With economic activity progressively returning to normal i expect Imdex to fully benefit thanks to its very good management, great portfolio of products/technologies backed by IP/ high barriers to entry, its global scale and its now much higher net cash position. I won't be surprised to see the share price reach the 2012 previous high of $ 3.
