that was my understanding also. If pl6 20nm is the high performance engine, then it’s currently sitting in a Toyota Camry body (the universal platform)- which while it drives, is unable to tap into the performance characteristics of the cell/engine. The platform Infineon will design for us will be the custom performance body , that is tuned to our engine to extract maximum/ optimal performance.
that’s how I explain it anyway. In saying that- there is a degree of truth that the 20nm characteristics will not be able to be fully exploited or possibly even understood until such time as we have the cells sitting in the Infineon vehicle. We will however be able to observe basic function characteristics with universal platform- so with any luck in the next 6 weeks or so we’ll have an idea of what 20nm might be capable of. But for peak performance characterisation, sit back and relax for a good 12 months from here. Interesting times ahead.
