PL6 imo is a white elephant for 4DS. Obsolete before it's finished, due to the Infineon development deal, which will provide much more functionality within the custom chip.
It's also the first time 4DS had done concurrent work for years. It's been a case of fabricate, test, get results, and fabricate the next one with all the platform lots. Very slow going. Now the next generation of chip is on the drawing board before the current one is out of the fab. Much like all other tech really. The next iPhone is in design before the new one is available in the shops.
