My understanding of Travelan was it remained active if the gastrointestinal system therefore it has effectiveness against pathogens at this site.

The same drug is now effective in a laboratory dish at reducing replication of covid.

Covid is a respiratory virus. Whilst it may cause diarrhoea it is not a gastrointestinal virus.

There is a big jump between effective laboratory dish concentration and saying it's systemically effective in the human body. Firstly it needs to be asorbed from the gastrointestinal system, which I don't believe Travelan is. This is part of its effectiveness against gastrointestinal pathogens.
