the baseline data in this case is important for explaining how/if efti is working in this indicationthe data shows that more cd8 was correlated with longer survival, so the next step would be to see how efti affects cd8 cell counts. if it is responsible for the increased cd8, then its strong support that efti is therefore driving the longer survival in these patients.however, we see here that efti doesnt increase cd8 counts much compared to placebo in breast cancer, when considering the baseline values of each arm. Thus, the slightly longer overall survival in all efti-treated breast cancer patients may not be due very much to efti, but rather just to the fact they naturally had more cd8 cells.

Now, this is also not to say that cd8 is the whole story - this is just the data they shared. For instance, maybe if they had counted DCs instead, there would be a clearer story that efti is having a strong impact. Further, I could also argue that cd8 may not have big impact on patient survival anyway because despite the notable difference in cd8 between the arms at each timepoint, the survival difference is only 2.7 months.

So, what would be interesting would be to see the cd8 and DC cell counts at baseline and after efti treatment for the patient subgroups that responded well to treatment (i.e. <65yo and low monocyte)
