yes we should not forget who really has something on the line....

Phase 1 = you have nothing to lose in so much as you already know you are on your way out.
Phase 2 = you have nothing to lose and you know it ain't gunna make your life much worse or way shorter than it otherwise would have been.. with a chance of more time with better health...
Phase 3 = you have nothing to lose and you have a chance at all phase 2 has to offer.... except now you are in a lucky dip... phase 3 placebo controlled... now that is hardcore...

much respect to the recruited... their time and courage will bring less suffering to others...
