My view is that John Gusic has made his investment on the basis of the growth potential of Webbeds which is now the largest part of the business and this has been achieved in only 6 years. The business is profitable, strong margins and Total Transaction Value is expected to grow at approximately 50% from memory this year. The booking and payments system based on block chain being rolled out is well received and there is alot of support for it as it will reduce errors, in particular where hotels did not charge the customer.

Many people still prefer to book their flights and accommodation through travel agents for a variety of reasons including:
Professional and personal travel specialists.
Customer advocacy.
Expert guidance.
Save on time
Convenience.
A personal touch.

I think the webbeds business is a winner in the long term - adding agents and hotels all the time... Yes people can get it cheaper with a bit of research but this has typically always been the case.

The argument that fees received by webjet OTA in relation to service fees and price guarantees will fall to $0 is flawed in my view. Perhaps they will remove the booking fee, wait and see... your guess is as good as mine.
