Not sure that you understand. Dividend payment will not remain the same. I find it astonishing that CCP raised their final payment to $0.47 per share. The CEO had already sounded out modest growth and an increase in delinquencies when surely they had an inkling of what was ahead? Prop up the dividend to keep the faithful still interested. Oldest trick on the ASX. Begs the question...at what point were they aware?
CCP was beginning to worry me some time ago as I wrote in a post the other week stating that it's starting to mess with my psyche. No wonder there's still no skin in the game from the Directors or the CEO himself. Today, I count myself extremely lucky, yet still feel the pain.
@JoeGambler - I respect your commentary along with others. It's not a great day for shareholders and the company.
For those saying that CCP is a strong buy, I don't think that's the case just yet. I think that the U.S. market has been underestimated. There's a different dynamic and strong competition. Their competitors are not Collection House or Pioneer Credit. This is a different ball game. One area that concerned me was their uptick in lending and poor growth on collections. If I wanted to invest in a lender, I'd stick with a major and get my 6% dividend.
Looking back, there's been an abundant of red flags. Personally, I don't foresee conditions improving in a hurry. For some reason, people seem to think that CCP do well in bad times and that rising interest rates and risk of inflation is a boon to companies like CCP. CCP have very little engagement in PDL's as a result of mortgage stress. That's not really their domain. CCP outperform when economies begin to come out of "recessionary" periods.
I don't care how much dead cat bounce there is. The company has been telling us for a long time that there's a rocky road ahead.
I'm going to sit on the side lines and watch it unfold. No rush.
