The set of tools developed for modifying a particular mineral microbiome such that metals can be extracted in a natural way arguably include microbes that break apart microcrystals binding precious metals and microbes that collect or mobilise the precious metals.

The elemental analysis in the test work reported 19 December 2022 provide an insight into the mineral microbiome at Tres Estados. We know for instance that the microbes digest at least five compounds/minerals including magnesium oxide, aluminium oxide and silicone dioxide with reductions of 70.1%, 60.5% and 44.1%. Could one or more be characterised as microcrystals? We also know from the pilot plant test that its the combination of rock breaker microbes and collector microbes that create the enhanced recovery of precious metals.
