PB Total debt as defined by CYI auditors (and the same for VAN) includes creditors and accruals, lease commitments, payroll provisions (annual and LSL and golden parachutes), bank guarantees ($5.5m is required to be placed with the electricity supplier otherwise they won't supply), put and call option exposure, contingent liabilities (eg Rehabilitation provisions), gold loan plus underlying encumbrances (Auramet $15m have first dibs on SGI assets).. Accountants like myself like to play with figures where you can work out various liquidity or debt ratios by either including or omitting various items depending on what is important to you in your analyst.
