Can any of us, who dabble in share investment to try to secure some success, ever vote for a political party that would take negative gearing away. The Australian characteristic of having a go either through shares or a basic house to rent out for example, would be quashed through draconian tax changes. That policy was thankfully disclosed by the ALP so we could vote on the principle. Let’s hope that such a policy would not be dared to be implemented without notice because a verbal undertaking prior to an election doesn’t give much comfort. Think about the ramifications in the market.
