Prostate cancer. Hi Ianwil, and others.
About 30 years ago I saw my GP as I was experiencing blood in my urine and an urge to urinate frequently. My GP took a blood sample for a PSA blood test and the result was 16.8, a huge increase from the norm of about 2.6 or something.
He referred me to a eurologist specialist who did biopsies which revealed enlarged prostate with signs it could turn cancerous. But it was a low score on the Gleeson scale (a prostate cancer measure) which was good. He put me on Duodart pills (500/400mcg), one perday and 6 monthly PSA blood tests and visits with him. He told me the main reason for prostate cancer is animal fats. Fast forward 30 years to the present and my PSA is now between 2.5 and 3.5.
So my advice to concerned blokes is to get your GP to refer you to a specialist if you can afford it ASAP.
