Why would CIV want to short the stock heavily to 2c if it gives opportunity for traders and ST to load up the stock cheaper before any clinical trial updates are released within the next 3-6 months? It will mean they won't get maximum return since the conversion right before 6 months is set at 125% of 3.8c and the ST and traders will sell into this re-rate??
CIV probably will short to trade it but they won't drop it to as low as 2c as it will greatly minimise their return from further positive clinical trial updates. Like you say, they make money whether the clinical trial updates are good or bad but they would make a lot more from further excellent clinical trial update provided they don't give the opportunity for traders and shorter to load up especially as they still have the $26M warrants with exercise price at 5c.
