Great to see you back Ben. I have also felt strongly about the salaries and bonuses for some time. When the large increases were proposed a few years ago now, I certainly voted against them in some cases. Paul Hopper raised this with me as if to show his dissatisfaction of how I voted in his case, most unprofessional to say the least.
The temptation at the time was to give the benefit of the doubt and take the view that the only reason that they could possibly justify such huge salary increases and bonus share issues, was that commercial success was right around the corner - this sadly has proven not to be the case. Whoever set and approved the performance criteria is deluded, when it comes to shareholder value.
Following on from the large pay increases, Leslie has noted many times how she runs a tight ship and is frugal etc , this of course over looks the major discussion point here.
Sadly , the longer time goes on watching how the Imugene story plays out, I’m of the opinion that all matters commercial are largely controlled by Paul hopper, that Leslie and her team are focussed almost exclusively on clinical trials progress, and have little say or even understanding of what’s really going on with the money. Paul Hopper has built his poor reputation for himself from many many questionable financial decisions, salaries and bonuses at the levels they are only being one of them.
