I think the market has completely missed the point on the niche market opportunity IMX has found itself in. It’s not about batteries*, it’s about building products.

The Chinese govt recently amended the building regulations in China to mandate that all new building works use flame retardant building materials. This requires EXPANDABLE graphite, of which China has none, so the Chinese govt has been testing IMX’s Chilalo graphite for the past 7 months or so and says it’s the most expandable they have ever tested by a factor of >2 (see announcement 27 Jan). There’s also some good videos of the Chinese doing the testing on the IMX website, showing how it expands, and how it makes polystyrene fire resistant.

This is a disruptive innovation that has created a new, niche market, that needs to be supplied, and it would seem the Chinese govt are moving fast to secure that supply with IMX – deals expected to be done in parallel with the IPO of the graphite NewCo, completed by end April.

    It's a damn good story.

(*apparently the Chinese will be taking IMX's battery grade graphite as well)
