Pharmaceutical company Chemeq Ltd (ASX: CMQ) today announced that commissioning is progressing satisfactorily and to schedule since commencement in mid-January 2004, with one exception. A reputable overseas manufacturer of specialist high technology valves (one small component of thousands in Chemeq's manufacturing plant) has regrettably extended the component's due delivery date, without offering a specific and firm alternative date.
Although delivery for the component from overseas is anticipated to be within weeks, the uncertainty associated with receiving overseas deliveries is frustrating and in turn, causing one part of Chemeq's commissioning schedule to be delayed. Commissioning of all other non-affected areas of the facility is still proceeding to schedule.
Chemeq continues to be optimistic of announcing successful completion of commissioning in the near future, but at the same time wishes to avoid excessive or uncertain announcements of intermediate progress. The company anticipates that the next communication in this regard will relate to the achievement of its production milestone."
