ALS can proactively determine any potential processing issues that might be encountered, thereby efficiently defining the optimum testwork program for mining projects.

Importantly, use of this integrated service can preclude the exhaustive testing of unnecessary processes, ultimately saving project time and budget.
The highly-experienced team of mineralogists, metallurgists, and technicians at ALS work collaboratively to provide the highest quality results within fast turnaround times. ALS applies an integrated mineralogical approach using QEMSCAN®, MLA, X-ray diffraction, HyLogger™, and optical microscopy to produce an accurate, quantitative understanding of the mineralogical assemblage and variability within a deposit.
Customised reports are prepared to meet requirements with details including:
    • Mineral list (including formulae and elemental percentages)
    • Mineral assemblage
    • Mineral abundance (Wt%)
    • Elemental distribution of valuable and penalty
    • Grain size distribution
    • Mineral association, locking and liberation
    • Theoretical grade/recovery curves
    • Filtering of data (ie. to establish grain size of locked target minerals)
    • Coloured mineral maps
    Why automated mineralogy?
Automated mineralogical analysis using QEMSCAN® and MLA provides accurate, fast, reproducible, quantitative mineralogical analysis of samples and related materials to maximise productivity and efficiency of exploration, process design, optimisation, mining, production, marketing, and rehabilitation processes.

    Why XRD and spectral analysis?
X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and spectral analysis using the HyLogger™ provide information on the bulk mineralogy of large numbers of samples and are becoming increasingly valuable as an input in geometallurgy programmes. The rapidly generated HyLogger™ data has several benefits including improved objectivity and consistency of core logging and an improved understanding of the 3D models generated during exploration programmes.
ALS mineralogists work hand-in-hand with the ALS metallurgy team to include quantitative automated mineralogy testwork as an integral component of metallurgical testwork programs.
