Unclear on your line of thinking here. Offering incentives to your staff, in lieu of money, is common place in start ups. Often to get the best talents you need to include incentives that will act as multipliers when the share price has substantial success. There are other articles and market updates that evidence that the technology works so I don't think there is much debate on that side.
If anything it's good that they have it so they can retain talent provided they're setting sufficient targets.
