It could also be that there was the possibility in the prevailing low volume sideways environment leading up to the breakout that at any random moment there was the distinct possibility that a few impatient holders with enough collective volume could have triggered a potentially damaging bearish breakout if 50 cents could be breached.
Maybe this was a bit of insurance to block that possibilty. What would you do in similar circumstances as a large holder in their position?
