I was there when the NWS was developed and can tell you that Woodside was not a big company, and it wasn't the operator. Also they did not bring in customers until much later. The first customer was the state govt under Sir Charles Court whose commitment to buy gas underwrote the NWS development. LNG customers MIMI, came in later.
Anyway , BRU can walk and chew gum at the same time by farming out the Laurel gas and liquids to a big company who will actively prove up and market the gas. This activity would not stop BRU from focussing on its oil exploration and increasing its cashflow.
Back to the NWS for a second,.....Woodside had very little money and had to farm down its interest as well as obtaining bank finance. It was a difficult act back then but today banks are falling over themselves to finance economically robust projects.
I still wouldn't use the word stranded for Yulleroo because of a temporary moratorium on fracking. It will highly like become "unstranded" in a month or so.
